A Journey in Light and Color

"My paintings are more than a collection, they are moments and places captured in oil. Each piece tells a story, not just of landscapes but of the journey that led me to them.

I first painted as a child in the Pennsylvania mountains, drawn to shifting light and rolling hills. At Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, I refined my classical technique while holding onto that sense of wonder.

Years later, I found myself living decade in Europe, a place of old world charm, and a history of painters who saw the world in ways I longed to understand. The muted tones of Flemish landscapes, and the deep greens and grays of a misty day became my palette.

Now, in Virginia, my brush moves with new energy, bold and shaped by the Blue Ridge wilderness.

All of these paintings are meditation on seeing, a testament to the places I’ve loved and the stories I’ve told through paint. And like all art, it remains unfinished, it changes through the years, but always waiting for the next story to unfold." - Grace Miles
