A Journey in Light and Color

"My paintings are more than a collection—they are moments and places captured in oil. Each piece tells a story, not just of landscapes but of the journey that led me to them.

I first painted as a child in the Pennsylvania mountains, drawn to shifting light and rolling hills. At Edinboro University, I refined my classical technique while holding onto that sense of wonder.

Years later, I found myself living in Belgium, a place of old-world charm, and a history of painters who saw the world in ways I longed to understand. The muted tones of Flemish landscapes, and the deep greens and grays of a misty day—these became my palette. I painted between centuries-old stone walls, under the weight of skies that held both melancholy and grandeur.

Now, in Charlottesville, my brush moves with new energy—bold, loose, shaped by the Blue Ridge’s wild beauty. My work bridges past and present, blending European stillness with the vibrancy of the American South.

This collection is a meditation on seeing, a testament to the places I’ve loved and the stories I’ve told through paint. And like all art, it remains unfinished—waiting for the next story to unfold." - Grace Miles
